First of all, kudos to DVD2SVCD for a fabulous program; this is definitely the best one for backing up DVD's. I do have a question about chapters though...
I just finished backing up "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" to SVCD (yes, believe it or not, I actually own the DVD). I chose to have chapter points in the same place as on the DVD, but that doesn't seem to be what I got. The chapters work with my Hollywood+ card, and on my Philips DVD711 standalone player, they just aren't in the right spots when I compare to the DVD. Here is a brief run-down on the options I chose when ripping:
internal ripping routines
dvd chapter points
IVTC (not automatic!)
Chinese audio @ 128 kbps
English subtitles
Also, I used DVD2SVCD version 1.06 Build 1, which I believe is the latest.
I have created SVCD's before using a more manual process and created chapters by using CCE to set closed GOP's at the chapter frames and creating XML with the proper entry points. I found that I could create frame-accurate chapters that played perfectly on my DVD711 standalone, so I know that this is not a problem with my player.
Could it be the IVTC that threw off the chapter frame calculations? I know that if I load up the .ifo file in ChapterXtractor and look at the frame numbers for the chapters, they aren't even close to what DVD2SVCD used.
Any ideas? Anyone have similar experiences, or some suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
spudboy
