New to dvd convert to files

Hi All,

First i would like to say brilliant forum you have here.

Now i have dvdshrink and have managed to mo create a section of a dvd into vob files but cant find a way of converting them into avi, i've found other threads with the same question but the answers make no sense:confused:

Please Help.....

Question.. i know that you can put these files onto a blank dvd-rw (i have a dvd-rw drive) but can that dvd be played on tv dvd player, if so how do i go about creating the dvd with clips?
(does it have to be just avi, or can it be wmv, mpg, etc..)

Welcome to the forums, there are many ways to convert DVD to avi, my personal method is create a ISO file with just the main movie and audio track using DVD Shrink, then use either mencoder or avidemux to convert the iso to a avi...... i know it's a strange method but its 2 steps and works perfectly.....

But to really get a handle on things i suggest you search google for DVD to AVI guide's there are thousands out there, and no it does not have to be AVI it can be WMV MKV MP4 MPG (converting a DVD to MPG is kind of redundant as it already is MPG) or virtually any container.
