i'm posting this to possibly help others that may have similiar issues with minor audio synch problem...

ISSUE:

for the first 2 or 3 movies i ran through dvd2svcd, i noticed a minor (approx 1 sec) audio delay synchronization problem (just enough to really anoy you). oddly enough this problem only occurred on the first cd image for each movie...not any subsequent ones. additionally, the first cd would play fine with NO audio synch issues when using a pc (w/powerdvd xp) but the audio synch problem IS noticable when playing in my apex ad-3201 player w/ tv.

RESOLUTION:

after scratching my head on this one, i came to the realization that the only difference with the 1st cd of a set is that it contains a lead-in title picture image just before the movie plays...other cd's (#2, #3, etc) do not.

to test my theory i removed the title picture image on my next conversion and VOILA! all cd's now play superbly without synch issues on both my pc and in my svcd player.

i can only conclude that my particular svcd player could not handle the multiple track's synch times due to the initial image being presented on cd1.

by the way...dvd2svcd beats the living sh*t outta divx for quality, and performance...you guys are geniouses!

@mixmastr:

Hello I'm a newbie and have nearly the same Problem.

The different is:

The SVCD's are pretty good as mpeg files on HDD
The SVCD's are pretty good as SVCD on the PC

When I play the SVCD's on my stand alone Marantz DV4100 - I have sync Problems :-(

After testing several times, I recognize, that at the begining of every CD (starting at my Marantz) I have problems with the sync.(on the second CD the sync is rather bad).

This happens not when I use other Programms.
The different could be the Bitrate ??? In other Prog. avg. 1710 KBit/s at Video (80min CDR). I will try this at SVCD (really great Programm).

Has everyone the same Problems ???

Thanks
Theo

I'm having the exact problem with the audio slightly out of sync on the first CD only. I am using an Apex AD-1200, its maybe a sec off (caused by the display of the title picture??). Both CDs are in syc when played in WinDVD.

A couple questions:

1) I am currently using DVDsSVCD 1.0.6 B1, will the latest version solve this problem. I tried the latest version and I couldn't get past the AC3 to MP2 audio conversion, kept on crashing.

2) I did not use the internal ripper, could this cause a problem on the first CD and not the second?

My last resort would be to just remove the title picture and see what happens. Anyone has any suggestions?

What software are all of you using to burn the cue files?
I am curious if this can be linked to a particular software package.
How did you burn? If you used Nero did you use Daemon tools?
If you did use Nero can you try a burn using VCDEasy? A link can be found in the Newbie Faq or on the Doom9 software download page.

I will try Daemon tools and VCDEasy tonight.

Fireburner is not recomended for use with DVD2SVCD. There have been many instances of data corruption with the header reported.

Ok I did a two different burns last night with mixed results.

1)Nero Using Daemon tools gave the same result, the audio slightly off on the first CD.

2)VCDEasy does not support still image so I could not insert the title picture or change CD picture (is there another method to add those)? With that said, the audio and video were perfect using this method.

Both burns were ok when played in WinDVD. The title picture is nice but I can do without it. Maybe its just the player I'm using (Apex AD-1200).

When I have these probs with my player (philips DVD 825) I have the (hardware) option in the setup to turn off the pbc (playback control). This assures me whether it is a standalone or burning issue (but will disable the title pic). Dont know if the players you have have this, but hope this helps.
