PAL -> NTSC mkv/h264 transcoding

I'm looking to transcode some PAL DVDs to mkv/h264. While, I could just do it straight, these are TV shows that I'm not keen of the pitch increase that the PAL DVDs are known for. I was wondering if anyone knew of an automated system that would enable me to fix this?
