Hi guys I'm facing this current problem. I have several AVIs and associated subtitle files. I want to put these on DVDS, but the source material is not english. Therefore I have to have subtitles. The subtitle files are all .srt
Now I've tried MANY methods to get this done...but everytime I cannot get the subtitles to appear as an option to select. I'm not trying any type of fancy burn option or menu creation - I only have the movie + subtitle file.
I notice that I can get the subtitles to appear if they are 'hard coded', but this is honestly not what I want.
I do have Vobsub installed as well as other desired codecs. I've tried to reinstall vobsub to be safe as well as ffdshow. I'm honestly running out of ideas. IT isn't JUST AVI2DVD that is giving me this problem - I've tried many alternatives and all result in these issues.
Does anyone have an idea? I tried searching the forums last week (I had to wait 5 days to reply and my old email account doesn't exist lol) but couldn't find a solution.
Thanks!

1) Where did you get those AVI+SRT?
2) Try AVStoDVD 2.0.0 Final (http://avstodvd.googlepages.com/home)

1) http://www.archive.org/details/spring_in_a_small_town this is one of the movies. I'm using the subs provided on the page
2) I'll try it, although I think i already have. I must have tried at at least 4 programs right now and none of them worked although I have a faint feeling I tried it. I tried Deevedee, and interestingly enough if I choose to 'preview' the movie the subtitles do appear and look like they are not hardcoded (I set it to a 60 second preview), but the final outputted DVD lacks this.
any other ideas?
I'll try it
Please, (re)do it.

Didn't work :( Same problem and I was right assuming that I tried it already ;)
Anyways I just installed Ubuntu and used DeVeDe...although even if I manually set the bit rate it still shoots under by quite a few gigs =_= I suppose it is better than nothing

Could you please send me (by email) the log file generated by AVStoDVD. Just to see where it failed.
