I had AutoGK installed and running great for several months, then I had a computer problem and I had to reformat the drive and start of. I reinstalled AutoGK2.45 then upgraded to 2.48. After I started the the conversion a lot of first time use windows pop open. Now, when I am running AGK a virutalDub window pops opens and runs giving me a status report, ie 40%, 75% etc. I did not have this window last time, or maybe I changed an option so it would not show. What is the purpose fo the window?

your worried about a status window?
Post a screenshot of the window and maybe more info can be provided, but you haven't given us much to work on!

The first pic is when the AutoGk first shows up, then the second pic is showing you what the window actually is. I also noticed that the converted file size is a little larger than before, about 500MB.

Are you talking the exact same file?
Or a different file?
Because you know that if you encode 2 differnt video's chances are they won't turn out at the same size even if you use the same bitrate.

It is a different file, I am just comparing the avarage vob to the converted avi file sizes. The avi file size was also just somethign I noticed when I was getting the screen shot. Do you know why the virtual dub window is popping up know when it would not have before? I am just wondering if I hit a button I should not have during startup.

The attachment's have not yet been approved, so i can't tell you what the window is, but seriously if it's not an error message then just let it be, is a status window worth this much trouble?
If it's the window im thinking of it is just a window showing what virtualdub is upto......... more information never hurt's.
Forget about average file size's, the short answer is every movie has different encoding requirement's and will end up a different size.

That's just the VirtualDub main window, if you want to hide it jsut minimise it, there is no problem with it being there.
PS next time try CTRL - ALT - Print Screen we don't need to see the empty back ground aswell.

@matthew_77
This is not the normal behaviour for AutoGk to display the Virtualdubmod (not VirtualDub :p)window on your desktop.
It should only be seen minimized in the taskbar.
So chances are you messed up something with your system.
