Hi Folks
Could someone briefly explain how to author Menus in Scenarist v3 which would be 16x9 but would appear Pan-Scanned in a 4x3 monitor. Would I need to design 2 sets of 8bits? What settings would need to be applied in tool for the set up.
I know 2 sets of 8bit need to be designed for if I'd like to 4x3 to appear Letterboxed but what about Pan-Scan?
Thanks

Yes you have to create 2 different subpictures.
Create your wide sub, crop 90px left and right and stretch width from 540 to 720.

So there's no settings in Scenarist that need to be changed or switched?

Buttons have to be aligned in simulation window as you have to do with letterbox subs.
In 'track editor - property browser - display mode' you can choose 'Only panscan' to make pan-scan mandatory for this track on 4:3 players

Is this a video menu, or statics? If it's .TIFs (or whatever) that you are importing, you need to flag them 4x3(Pan&Scan) in the Data editor. If it's a video menu, the video needs to be encoded with the Pan&Scan flag turned on. Some video encoders can't even do this, so you need to make sure you can do it.
When you import your video into the Data Editor, it will tell you if it's 16x9 or 4x3(Pan&Scan). Scenarist will not let you change this for video, it has to be encoded that way.
