DVD Shrink

When I initiate backup after scanning, My DVD burner is missing in the target device window. It doesn't happen all the time, only when I have had to rescan the DVD. Also, where are the ripped files stored? I can't find them anywhere.

Do you pay attention to the backup dialog at all? there is a textbox there titled Select target folder for DVD ouput files: what ever location is specified there is where DVD shrink output's it's files!

As for the burning problem, not quite sure could be a itermitent problem with the burner, could be a problem with the version of nero you have isntalled, i use the ISO option then burn that with ImgBurn, simply a kick arse CD/DVD writing app.

Also keep in mind when DVDShrink stopped development Nero 6 was still pretty new, times have changed since than and we are upto Nero 8 now.
