The dvd from the last german magazine PC World 2008/8 includes the movie No Good Deed with bad sectors in the middle of every vob.
Very good! You get 3 stops on the jumps over the gaps like a layer break! :devil:

But latest AnyDVD 6.4.5.0 doesn't recognize the bad sector protection on the disk. :mad:
What to do??

Very simple - Use IsoBuster. :cool:
- Switch off the Copy protection based on unreadable sectors in AnyDVD. Otherwise it will hang.
- Start AnyDVD and then IsoBuster and extract the VDEO_TS folder. Set read repeats to 1 in IsoBuster.

On every unreadable sector the drive needs more time, stay patient. You can speed-up the process by forcing the PC into standby mode on a bad sector. After restart AnyDVD recognizes the bad sectors and will skip it. Fill up all unreadable sectors with zeroes (option in IsoBuster).

After the copy you can repair the crippled structure with PgcEdit and FixVTS and make a proper backup.

And the morons thought there is not enough protection. They added a password request on dvd, which expires in August, because their server will no longer respond. :devil: If you want to watch the video on TV you must take the password response from internet every time you start the dvd.

A new attempt, to make a purchased video unusable after a few weeks.
The answer: Not buy such trash!
or use PgcEdit to delete the stupid commands. :rolleyes:

Hi!

Are you sure it's not simply a bad pressing or a damaged disc?

After all, the commercial DVD, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Milla Jovovich was released in 2004...

I'm very sure!
The commands on dvd jump over the unreadable areas.

I'm very sure! The commands on dvd jump over the unreadable areas.Then let me ask you, did you try any of the "standard" ripping programs, such as RipIt4Me, DVDFab HD Decrypter, DVD95CopyPro, etc.?

You could also try the latest beta 6.5.4.3 - Using an old version isn't always the best solution.

Call me crazy but why not post in the Slysoft forums? If it is, in fact, an AnyDVD problem then it could be fixed.

@DL&D

Maybe he's trying to inform our members.

For that, thanks frank!

If you want to watch the video on TV you must take the password response from internet every time you start the dvdTough if your DVD player is not hooked up to the internet (as most standalones aren't). This is just plain wrong when you can't play a purchased product.

Well, yeah, that part was a tad obvious. Even I am not that dense. :p

@setarip_old
No, I didn't try other progs, because AnyDVD is the leader.

I informed the community because it's the first time I saw crippled sectors in the middle of a pgc between chapters. So far they only were at the begin of a pgc.

frank, right click on AnyDVD with the disc inserted > Create Logfile...

Send that log off to Slysoft support so they can take a look at it. You could also try the BETA (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=18203) out and see if that makes any difference. Did you try using the AnyDVD Ripper?

Hi frank,

thanks so much for this help. Every so often I come across some DVDs that have this Bad Sector Protection that I did not manage to overcome with AnyDVD or with other software. With YOUR post I managed to get those DVDs on my HD today and you know what I am very very very happy about it. Absolutely great post and thanks so much.
