I want to cut out the intro and ending of family guy, since the 605 only supports .mp4 files for x264 (no mkv), I can't use mkvmerge to split. Can anyone give me a freeware that can split and merge mp4 files? Thanks.

I'm sure that yamb can do that...:)

Where did you get MP4 files of Family Guy?

I got the DVDs and I encoded them with AutoMKV to MP4.
BTW I just want to say how good AutoMKV is. I encoded them with x264 and AAC @ 128Kbps. With just 100MB for each episode I can create a near lossless quality file compared to the original DVD. On my Dell Ultrasharp 22'' monitor, Unless I put it on full screen and compared it with the original DVD very closely with my eyes glued to the monitor, I can't tell a difference. I have them encoded at 75MB per episode (x264, 128kbps AAC), it still looked excellent at full screen, but the colors are very slightly darkened with a little bit of noise. Again, I can't see that unless I compared it to the DVD.

why dont you just rip it again from the original dvds and now without the opening and ending? would save a lot of quality...

How do you do that? What software do I use to rip them by chapter (scene)? Even with that, the scene selection from the DVD does not include the opening as a separate chapter. In some episodes they have a cold open (meaning intro song is in the middle of the episode). Is there some software that can cut and paste vob files? Wouldn't it be easier to edit after you encode because the vob files are separated in 1GB files?
Since Everybody is here, I'm gonna ask something about AutoMKV. How come for some disks AutoMKV 0.95 would only find a few of the episodes (chapters in AutoMKV)? Is there a software that can extract vob files by chapter and take out unnecessary audio tracks?

How do you do that? One method would be to use DVD Shrink (Set to "No Compression) in "Re-author" mode...

Since you people seemed to be very good with DVD Shrink, then I have a question that I want to ask that's annoying me. Every time DVD shrink finish backing up a DVD it starts my DVD burner to burn. How can I stop that from happening?
