Surprisingly (to me), the R1 version of "Fool's Gold" appears to be the first release on the Warner label to contain copy protection.

Perhaps this is a consequence of the February merger of New Line Entertainment into the Warner Entertainment division of Time-Warner.

Please note that the now "long in tooth" but still extremely effective RipIt4Me (I continue to use v.1.6.4) successfully eliminated the protection like a hot knife going through butter ;>}

I have RipIt4Me version 1.7.1.0. It was great to see it in action again. I hadn't used it in a while. Is there a way to determine whether it can decrypt a title before hand. For example which protections does it not work with and how can they be identified in a particular release. A lot of time could be saved.

RipIt4Me is still the program I use first. No way to tell if it's going to work or not without trying it on the movie. Usually you'll know right away like if it can't scan it or you get multiple movies showing after the scan with the same name. Usually if it gets through DVD Decrypter and "Do It", you're good to go.

RipIt4Me still does the job for me most of the time. Maybe 1 movie in 20 I have to go to my back up option of DVDFab (which is also a great program). Don't have much use for AnyDVD anymore (I bought it long ago but don't even have it installed anymore).

It's just a personal choice thing.
