View Full Version : Audio problems with DVD Decrypter

I've used DVD Decrypter successfully on lots of DVDs to date, but this one has me stumped. I'm working with a burned video DVD-R with no copy protection. The title menu shows just one chapter, and the video (which runs 22 minutes 58 seconds) plays fine. When I decrypt using File mode and rename the .vob file to .mpg, I get only the first 20 seconds of video with audio that goes all choppy at the end over a freeze frame. When I open the files in IFO mode the input shows as VTS_01, PGC 1 [00:22:58]. Under that is Chapter 1, with 48 cells. There is one audio stream [AC3-2 channel] and one video stream [NTSC 4:3], both checked. But when I decrypt without stream processing checked I get the same 20 seconds as before. Stream info: 0x80 - Audio - AC3 / 2ch / 48kHz / DRC / LBA: 6 / PTS: 00:00:00.333 / Delay: -66ms
0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 / 720x480 (NTSC) / 4:3 / LBA: 1 / PTS: 00:00:00.399 / Delay: 0ms
With stream processing checked—I get 16 minutes, no audio. With demux checked—I get 16 minutes, no audio.
Guidance, suggestions would be most welcome. Please, no flaming if this is the dumbest question you've ever seen and the answer should have been obvious. I really did search the site and forums extensively for a solution before posting. Thanks!

Hi!I'm working with a burned video DVD-R with no copy protection.Do you have the same audio problem if you work with your original, commercial DVD instead?

If not, you'll then know that the backup copy that you made is flawed...

The DVD I'm using is the original--this isn't a copy of a commercial DVD--it contains a series of video pieces that were burned into one chapter. I need to decrypt it so I can isolate a piece that's in the middle, to make it easier to show during a presentation. Thanks!

I'm working with a burned video DVD-R with no copy protection.I need to decrypt itIf it contains no copy protection, it's not ENcrypted and, therefore does not need to be DEcrypted.

I can isolate a piece that's in the middleYou can use "MPEGCut.exe", "MPEG2Cut.exe", "ChopperXP", or similar, with your original DVD, to cut out the piece of the .VOB you want...

Thanks for the suggestions. You're right about the terminology, of course, but I've been using Decrypter for similar jobs for a long time without problems. I've looked for the programs you mentioned but the only versions of ChopperXP I could find give me a "corrupted files" error after download. The reviews of the similarly-named "MPEG cutter" programs at Download.com don't inspire much confidence. Do you happen to have a link to pass along to the ones you like? Thanks again.

You can download "MPEG2Cut2.exe" (I had a typo in my earlier post) from:
