I've got a 3hr 1080p film in nine 4.5GB .ts files along with seven .par2 files and I would like to convert this into just one big matroska .mkv container while keeping as much quality as possible. (disregard compression cause I have several terabytes of space available so I'm cool with one movie taking up 40GB). The current video codec is MPEG2 with a 35mgbit rate and the sound is DTS with 1.5mgbit.

So what video/audio codecs would you recommend for maximum quality?

And which tools should I use for this?

Tools that i already have:
Haali matroska splitter
mkvmerge
MediaCoder

What disk are you working wtih? I've never heard of a .par or .par2 file included on any blu-ray or hd-dvd :P

@bmnot

Please explain why this is not a rule 6 violation, given that par2 files are associated with Usenet downloads.

i have the files on a home made bluray and now I just want to get them off and have the film as one big file on my HD.

Maybe I should post this in an other section, which?

i have the files on a home made bluray Where did you get the files to make the blu-ray, and why do you have par2 files?

Blu-ray structure does not include .ts and par files.
