Hi,

I hope I'm posting in the right forum.

I have some 1080p mkv files that I want to convert into divx, because my DVD player is able to play hi res mpeg4 files (but not the mkv files).
I don't know a lot about the matroska format, but I did some searching and found that it is "just" a container format like AVI and others. Does that mean that I can easily convert a mkv into a avi file? What software should I use?

Hope that makes sense. :)

Thanx in advance....

Re-encode from your original DVDs. You'll get better quality that way.

The video is not from DVD. They are hi-res mkv files (1920x1080). I want to play them in full resolution on my Hi-res DVD player. To do that I need to convert the mkv file into divx or xvid and keep the resolution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

They are anime movies from one of my freinds. They look great on the computer but I want to play them on my DVD player to watch them on bigger screen.

Time for you to re-read the forum rules. And pay particular attention to rule 6.
