View Full Version : Verbatim DL DVD confusion

I'm trying to do all my DL burning on Verbatim DVD+R DL disks and I know that the disks manufactured in Singapore are supposed to be more reliable. I just went to my local OfficeMax and they had Verbatim +R DL disks, but some were made in India and some were made in Singapore. I also noticed that they had two types of each -- a spindle of 20 rated at X2.4 and a spindle of 15 rated at X4. The 20 disks at X2.4 were priced slightly cheaper per disk. Using the logic I aquired from this forum I bought the X2.4 Singapore disks because, one, they were made in Singapore and, two, I've heard it is better to burn at a slow speed. Was I correct to buy the X2.4 disks or does it make any difference between the X2.4 and the X4 disks other than the obvious speed difference and that they are both made in Singapore?

The Verbatim, +R, 2.4x, MKM-001-00, Made in Singapore are reputed to be the best. Some burners will burn them at 4x anyway. Let your burns be the test.

This may sound completely obvious at 5am, but are the Singapore ones in short supply and no longer made then?

I've been noticing more and more 2.4x DVD+R DL Verbatim "Made in Singapore" disks in my local stores. There is even a website that guarantees "Made in Singapore". Hope these are the bonafide thing and they are not just putting "Made in Singapore" labels on made in India disks.

Check the label on the outside packaging to ensure it is MIS.

Hi!...are the Singapore ones in short supply and no longer made then?I don't believe anyone's ever confirmed that Verbatim has ceased manufacturing D/L DVD+Rs in Singapore. I had asked that question in an email to Verbatim several months ago, but never received an answer...
