i already have a panasonic dvd-ram lf-d311 external firewire drive installed.

i bought pioneer a03 to test my dvd's with dvd-rw's (ram won't write to dvd-rw).

running windows xp.
primodvd updated.
a03 is master on secondary ide channel.
meritline 4.7gig dvd-rw media.

xp recognizes the a03.

but, primodvd reads the blank in the drive, states that there's a 4.7gig dvd-rw in the drive, then pauses, and says "drive not ready".
starting a burn session and then inserting a blank into the drive causes primo to hang in the "initializing" stage.

do you have to format the disks first...if so, how?

any help would be appreciated...

hehe...hold on.

just as i finished typing, went back to primo and it had passed the initialization stage and is burning the disc.

seems i have to load up the project to be burned, click burn, then stick the dvd-rw in the drive.

interesting.

how do i erase the dvd-rw?

it's an option under the Drive menu, in Primo.
