I am a newbie at encoding; I am using VD to encode my MPEG-2 HD OTA files into DIVX-HD avi's.
I use 2 pass, extreme quality; bitrates about 6-7000. For the most part I am happy, but, do notice the one biggest artifact is false contouring, especially troublesome on blue sky shots.
I have searched and found nothing on this topic in the forum.
Any help in minimizing this dreaded artifact while encoding would be GREATLY appreciated.
