View Full Version : x264/avc encoder tricked? (odd movement in demo die ewigkeit schmerzt's credits)

is it just me or is the movement at the end of this video (the end credits) slightly "cruddier" along edges than other parts that enlarge/shrink/move left/right/up/down in the x264 encode? or does it have to do with it being gray/red?

looks like a chroma problem,... (enabling trellis might also help a bit, since iirc it's ment to help with sharp edges in general)
.. looking at the source images (part 1) run14000.png (and later) it looks like the 'crudeness' you mention around the gray letters is present in your source. ;)
(... but it looks like a chroma problem around the red letters)

i don't THINK they're in the PNGs but i'll check...

i don't see "crud" along the edges. i forced antialiasing but that's about it...

that's the credits only (12mb of PNGs, openable in VDub as a sequence)

(... but it looks like a chroma problem around the red letters)

strangely, my PS3 looks nearly perfect along the edges compared to CoreAVC
