I'm trying to find a good codec for the compression of highly dynamic video-clips.

To be more exact: It is about animations of 10.000 or more differently colored spheres moving around in 3D (Brownian motion). I guess this is something that no codec is optimized for.

So far I've used mpeg4 videos made with ffdshow, but the bitrate needs to be very high to avoid visible compression artefacts.
(800 megabyte for a one-minute animation, 1024x1024, with 30fps)
The differences between the single frames are so big that every frame is a key-frame.

What other codecs should/could I try? (availability of those for Mac, Win and Linux is an issue too)

x264.

Things that help with really complex motion:
--partitions all
--me tesa
--ref 16
--mixed-refs
