Hi to all!
i use this settings for encode anime for first and second pass
--pass 2 --bitrate 1500 --stats ".stats" --ref 5 --mixed-refs --no-fast-pskip --bframes 3 --b-pyramid --b-rdo --bime --weightb --subme 6 --trellis 2 --partitions all --8x8dct --me umh --merange 32 --threads auto --thread-input --progress --no-dct-decimate --no-psnr --no-ssim
what can you say about it?

the setting will also depends on the platform where you want to play it. for me, I reencode my anime to play on the PS3. I use ripbot and automkv for that

@InTracer
--merange 32 is a bit exessive IMO (default 16 is good enough).
More --ref frame is usually benefitial for anime.
Regarding --partitions, p4x4 can be safely unchecked (resulting in --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8).

--ref 7 would be enough? but speed will be slow, i have very slow processor for encoding (athlon xp 3200+) ...
and what better for quality crf mode or 2pass encode?

If its slow, you should probably tone down on other settings first :p
--pass 1 --bitrate 1500 --stats ".stats" --bframes 16 --b-pyramid --threads auto --progress --no-dct-decimate --no-psnr --no-ssim --subme 3 --me dia
--pass 2 --bitrate 1500 --stats ".stats" --ref 16 --mixed-refs --bframes 16 --b-pyramid --b-rdo --bime --weightb --subme 6 --trellis 1 --8x8dct --me umh --threads auto --progress --no-dct-decimate --no-psnr --no-ssim
