Croping 4:3 to 16:9

Hello there I want to crop my 4:3 capture which is 720x576 to 16:9 for anamorphic widescreen dvd without cropping too much. What settings can I use in AviSynth to achieve the desired result of a anamorphic widescreen ?

Like this (for progressive material):
Lanczos4Resize(720,576,0,72,-0,-72)
For interlaced it should be done after a smart-bob deinterlacer, then re-interlaced.

Still the same cropping numbers:

or you can pillarbox the 4:3 image to keep it more sharp:

Spline36Resize(1440,1080).AddBorders(240,0,240,0)

for 25 - > 23.976 -> 1080i NTSC you'll probably need to add:

AssumeFPS(23.976)
ChangeFPS(59.94)
AssumeTFF().SeparateFields()
SelectEvery(4,0,3).Weave() # encode TFF, slow down audio in your sound editor
