Hi
I am looking to convert some NSmov files from a new HD camcoder. I guess my computer is too slow to work with the files so I need to converter them to avi, mp4 or something Nero can use.
Thanks

i believe an NSmov file is just a .mov file. I googled a .mov converter and found something at the following link:
http://www.download.com/Kingdia-Video-to-AVI-WMV-MPEG-MOV-FLV-Converter/3000-2194_4-10619984.html?tag=lst-2&cdlPid=10823987
Should work?

@Dazzler69
Hi!
"NSMov" is apparently not the same as ".MOV" format - It is likely a modified version. The following link provides both discussion and links to what appears to be viable conversion software:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?p=154059&sid=6212d28a63cd423cfd6593cb1ea0a7f0
You might also try using Quicktime Pro to load and convert...

Seta you never cease to amaze me, sorry for the misinformation :P
@Dazzler69:
Please get GSpot, drag & drop your .nsmov file onto it, create a screenshot and post it.
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/GSpot.htm
If you do not know how:
Press left Alt+PrintScreen, then click the Start menu - > Run -> type mspaint -> press CTRL+V, select File->Save As, select file type JPEG. Then go to http://imageshack.us/, upload your JPG image and post it here.
@setarip_old: Maybe we'll see what format in what container it is.

Thanks for the help so far. Wedding is today I am using it for. I am going to roll the dice and use it and try and convert later.
I will post a sample file also.

I found a sample, the properties are in the image, it seems to be a normal MOV container:

Any free converters links for mov to avi or mp4?VirtualDub v.1.7.6 or newer, plus the Quicktime plugin filter for it...

If it has the same properties like the sample above, then mp4box should be sufficient; according to this thread where are other suggestions as well:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=133711
EDIT:
FYI, this is the command line used for conversion of the above mentioned file:
C:\Program Files\megui\tools\mp4box>mp4box -raw 2 J:\down\AiptekHDsample.MOV
C:\Program Files\megui\tools\mp4box>mp4box -raw 1 J:\down\AiptekHDsample.MOV
C:\Program Files\megui\tools\mp4box>mp4box -new J:\down\out.mp4 -add J:\down\AiptekHDsample_track2.aac -add J:\down\AiptekHDsample_track1.h264 -fps 29.97
The result is the file out.mp4

VirtualDub v.1.7.6 or newer, plus the Quicktime plugin filter for it...
VirtualDub v.1.7.6 would not work, or even open a file of NSmov.

get qtdvd_bin, place it into the plugins directory (as previously stated by setarip). Works with the sample above.

It works for me in 1.7.8 in the "Plugins" directory.

@jeffy
I simply posted the supposed "requirement" as stated by the authors of the various new 32 bit plugin filters.
If putting it in the standard "Plugins" folder works for you, that's wonderful.
Perhaps the distinction in folders is being made so as not to confuse older 16 bit filters, with similar names, with the new filters...

@setarip_old: I apologize if the bolded words were of any kind of offense to you. It was not my intention.
I just simply stated it worked for me that way.

Or...?
No special procedure, almost exactly like you said except they don't go in plugins, you have to create a directory called plugins32 and put them in there. (plugins64 for 64-bit virtualdub, but there aren't any plugins for that yet.)

...
Download QuickTime Import Plugin (qtvd_bin / Quicktime_VD_v0.2.0.0_bin.zip) and just unpack to VirtualDub (1.7.8/1.8.0) folder.
Plugin require installed QuickTime (or QuickTime Alternative).
Other...
You can use MediaCoder (can change container to MP4 (by default used FFmpeg) or recompress to AVI (Xvid/MP3)...) or similar transcoder.
Unfortunately in Avidemux i'm see only green screen (with this sample file).
Other...
Can change container (MOV>MP4) used FFmpeg.
ffmpeg -i name_file.mov -vcodec copy -acodec copy name_file.mp4
Eventually can use Yamb (GUI for MP4Box) and change container (MOV>MP4).
Odd...
Avidemux can open correctly MP4 file after used FFmpeg, but still green screen after used MP4Box (Yamb).

Working with your sample:
get this file, extract it somewhere (my example C:\Temp\):
http://kurtnoise.free.fr/mp4tools/MP4Box-0.4.5-dev.zip
Working from command line:
(The commands typed are in bold.)
cd \
cd Temp
C:\Temp>mp4box -raw 1 C:\Temp\FILE0058.MOV
Extracting MPEG-4 AVC-H264 stream to h264
C:\Temp>mp4box -raw 2 C:\Temp\FILE0058.MOV
Extracting MPEG-4 AAC
C:\Temp>mp4box -new file0058.mp4 -add C:\Temp\FILE0058_track1.h264 -add C:\Temp\
FILE0058_track2.aac -fps 29.97
Saving file0058.mp4: 0.500 secs Interleaving
The result is here (mp4):

Downloaded VirtualDub 1.7.8 from here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=virtualdub&filename=VirtualDub-1.7.8.zip&use_mirror=switch
http://www.tateu.net/software/
get qtdvd_bin, place it into the plugins directory
Run VirtualDub.exe
Example: Video -> Fast Recompress
Video -> Compression -> XviD MPEG-4 codec (fourCC in the right pane 'xvid')
(I used my common settings, not the default ones.)
File -> Save as AVI
The result is here (avi):
http://www.mediafire.com/?ofstp1xnjc1
EDIT: The audio is uncompressed in this avi sample.

Found a better solution for me.
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/
Even makes up the DVD for me with menu's. I don't have to return the camcorder after all.

Have you tried to play the files I converted for you?
http://www.mediafire.com/?jxtl49vcuvt

If you still could not get VirtualDub to load your file, the file to be put into the plugins directory is named Quicktime.vdplugin
