Does anyone know how to build a DVD-A disc with freeware tools? I know there is an open source utility available here: http://dvd-audio.sourceforge.net/ but it looks like it doesn't work with the newly release 24/96 NiN music tracks that were released and there hasn't been much activity in the project. It does seem to work with 16/44.1 tracks but there is no point to burning DVD-A if all you use are cd quality tracks unless you're making a lossless compilation disc.

The only other option is the DVD-Audio Solo program but $44.95 to buy it seems steep for basically one or two uses.

New NiN's album 24/96 is made from 16/44.1 or 96
Not all tracks are real 24/96

If that's the case, and they freely encourage download, then sorry. :)

See Doom9 start page :p

Meanwhile, from the side of the fence where people do get it, Nine Inch Nails have released their latest album under the Creative Commons license. They even have a 24bit 96KHz version - try finding that on any RIAA studio CD ;)

Thanks for the links. I got the newer release of the tracks.

Using freeware tools from the site listed above. I successfully created a DVD-Audio disc from the new flac release of the 24/96 NiN TheSlip tracks. I converted the files from flac to wav first but could not get the dvda-author program to work on tracks 1,5,9 and 10. It got stuck in an infinite loop of some kind. It seems that those files have some kind of padding and it is messing up the processing.
