View Full Version : I need some help processing two versions of a TV commercial.

I am trying to create a DVD that will include a few commercials featuring Eric Cantona. I have most of it ready to go, but one of them ("The Secret Tournament") is giving me some issues. I found two versions: one at 25fps and one at 24fps. Now the first one seems to have been blended from an 29.97fps source, and the second one doesn't seem blended. Here are the clips:

What I would like to ask you is to take a look at the 25fps version, confirm if it has indeed been blended and suggest me a way to fix it (MOmonster's Restore Package should be more than enough, Restore24 will likely be overkill). As for the 24fps version, probably a simple AssumeFPS with audio correction will be enough, but if you have an alternative I'd like to read about it. Thanks in advance.

the source is 25p

sample1 is phase shifted progressive blended to 25p
sample2 is dropping each 25th frame to result in 24fps

so both samples are b0rked.

get a better source anyways...

Immersion: what do you mean?

scharfis_brain: I never was able to find anything in better conditions than these two versions, and I looked a lot. Would the clip from which sample 1 was taken be treatable with CDeBlend? What about the clip from which sample 2 was taken, is there anything better than ChangeFPS?

let sample1 RIP

let sample 1 rest in peace = don't even think about restoring it

edit: about cdeblend, it won't work since almost every frame has some blending

Should have been obvious, eh? I didn't notice the latters being in uppercase:o

Anyway, dithching the clip is not an option. If no good solution appears I'll simply encode it as-is.

Didn't D/L the samples, but for the case of sample2 is dropping each 25th frame to result in 24fps you could use MVFlowFPS to create the missing frames and insert them at the needed places. Somewhat in the style of the suggested script in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=116167) -- but note that script won't work as-is for your case, you need to adapt it appropriately. :)

Edit: After looking at the samples, I'd rather vote for the "let it be" option. There *are* frames missing, but it looks more like random than like a consistent pattern.

Besides, you already posted about this clip ... one or two years ago, or something.
