I am having a problem backing up my copy of The Golden Compass. I get to the last 7 files and it slows down almost to stop. Using rip it 4 me. When I used dvddecryptor4hd it says it will take over 24 hours Anyone know why. Is it because it is the widescreen version and not full screen version?

I just bought my copy today and I'm transcoding it now. I noticed that my (custom) script defaulted to title 19 (it picks the longest title), and I was getting endless read errors.

Playing back the DVD using DVD software, I see it uses title 1, not 19, for the main feature. So I suspect this is copy protection to prevent full-disk backups. The DVD structure likely shows one or more additional titles that are never actually referenced during normal playback, but that area of the disc is damaged to prevent backing up the whole disc. I actually suspect if you just aborted it at this point, what you have currently would be fine. (Just speculation.)

I was able to use DVDFab HDDecrypter to decrypt the disc to file format and then loaded it into DVDShrink and completed a successful back-up.

I did notice that while decrypting it was running really slow, but only for a minute or so and then it speeded up to usual speeds.

DVDFabHDDecrypter v.4.120 (Yes, I know there are newer versions) had no problem whatsoever doing a full disc backup of the R1 single disc widescreen version of "The Golden Compass"

I'd really suggest you update your version of AnyDVD. You're a bit behind in versions and AnyDVD 6.4.2.0 was just released.
