I have a 6300 core duo, and running divx 6.6 converter. I notice that it uses 100% of one core and none of the other... is it supposed to be like that or did i not configure something right?
I believe i tried also Autogk with xvid, and it was well using 2 cores.

In the task manager-> processes-> converter.exe (right click and select affinity)... check boxes checked = processors in use...

It might surprise you but all you paid for was the Pro codec and Mpeg2 decoding ability for their otherwise free Converter app...
Back when they first released divx 6.x there was a big fight between them and there customers about them shrapping the Dr. 1.x and taking its source to make that toy converter then taking and selling the mpeg2 support for $9.99...
