Hoping I can possibly get some leads on this massive annoyance here rather than some of the other general purpose forums.
I recently picked up an MSI TV@anywhere Plus analog tuner/capture card to replace my aging and beat up aimslab VHX card. All things considered the card is GREAT for what it actually does support. FM radio reception is the best I have experienced from any computer-based product, very minimal added video interference on tv channels above what's already coming in through the cable line, and the audio is clear, stereo, and of course does NOT rely on the sound card for passthrough.
But there is one major BUT here. For actually capturing anything worthwhile, I keep hitting roadblocks. The default software coming with the card supports capturing and even scheduled capturing, but forces you to either capture in mpeg2, divx, or raw avi with an added side effect of some weird massive cpu usage (never had that issue with the aimslab card capturing to raw 720x480). Now if I try to use a separate program like iuvcr (this is just an example. Every program tried has the same symptoms. iuVCR is just my preference.), it always seems to have a problem allowing me to set a custom capture resolution. Always gives me some sort of unsupported error on every single resolution tried. It always defaults to 320x240 at startup and seems to capture at this just fine. But it's not a desirable situation.
If it helps any, this card relies on a BDA driver. I haven't honestly done enough reading past knowing it's somewhat IP based, so I dunno if it adds another nail to the coffin of this mess. I just know that 320x240 captures seem to work fine outside of the stock MSI application and even dscaler works for viewing in that same resolution without fail.
