I guess there is no way to have a CLI variant of step 2 for HD-DVD->BD, is there?

Hi!I guess there is no way to have a CLI variant of step 2 for HD-DVD->BD, is there?
That would not seem to fit with the author's stated purpose of providing a guide that:this guide is meant to cover just the absolute basics and hopefully help out those who are just starting out.
Thanks QuadcoreHD.
There is another easy-to-use way(by AVGo Media Recorder) that can cover both ripping HD-DVD and ripping Blu-ray Disc, and just need one software and several simple steps. Please have a look. :)

Does this create m2ts and ts, also does it retain chapter info?

@DT3K,
Please find MrBDRippers thread and ask about that there. I really don't want this thread to become about his program as it really has little to do with the topic covered here.
Thanks in advance.

I'm definitely a beginner at this stuff, but I got through everything in QuadcoreHD's guide, but now (and this may be covered somewhere; I just don't see it) how can I get the resulting file into a format that I can edit on Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum?

Following the procedures described on this thread will be the same as running DVDFab for example and decrypting a DVD using the DVD-9/profile?
I mean, in terms of uncompressed material, exactly like the original disc (so, if you compare the image quality/level of details from the decrypted files and the original disc, they will be 100% the same), all those files we see with the same size from the disc (see here specs (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1155731)) are in fact no different, just like the DVD-9 profile? Which means, by using TSMuxer and the rest, even if the files have the same size, there's no chance that it's a reencode, with a different image quality?
If we can accomplish that, just like we do using DVDs, then it's great... but I wonder if the guy decides to remove one of the movie soundtracks, will he be reencoding the video or just saving HDD space, making the M2TS file smaller?

All of the tools listed in the guide merely remove DRM. They don't touch the audio or video. Removing audio tracks, etc does not touch the video.

Just want to let you know that changing subtitles from a modified M2TS container (without the unwanted soundtracks) will make Media Player Classic crash. I tried to change many things here but it all comes to that:
1) Original file (M2TS) = everything is working;
2) TSMuxer:
- Removes unwanted tracks (spanish for example), no matter what the desired output (M2TS or Blu-ray Disc), the result will be the same:
Keeping all subtitles - when MPC tries to open the same M2TS file, it says "No subtitles" or "Unknown subtitle" (?) or something like that. But they are still there to be choosen (I selected them). If you choose any of them, the video will pause and the cursor will keep running. And after that, black screen.
I thought everything was solved until I discover this bug. Everything was reinstalled - players, codecs, etc. so it is not anyone's fault, it must be something TSMuxer is doing. Unfortunatelly there's no way to run modified M2TS files using the source filter instead of Haali's (I tried that and the video was running very fast).
So it all comes to that - subtitles (PGS). TSMuxer is somehow messing with all of them when saving those files.

@Lincoln Burrows
Have you tried using any other type of software besides media player?

Yes... but I will do some tests later, so far I believe this is a bug introduced by TSMuxer. Unless I need to do that change only in the original disc, not the already decrypted files stored in my HDD.
I need to ask you guys something:
- How should I proceed (having AnyDVD-HD here) to decrypt a Blu-ray disc to my Hard-Drive, leaving the whole thing untouched (no compression, the same way as we see on the original disc) to my Hard Drive? Like decrypting a disc but using DVD-9 profile?
I mean, the only thing I would like to change it's to remove the region code (of course). Should I also enable the option "Disable BDLive" inside AnyDVD-HD? All default options will be enough for me?
If we were talking about any commercial DVD I would say (use the option "Decrypt DVD-Video to Hard-Drive" - that will accomplish what I am looking for). How should we do that for a Blu-ray disc, having the whole thing untouched (and of course, region free) into our HDD?
EDIT: I think I found the answer I was looking for - when decrypting Blu-rays, I believe I should use "Decrypt to image" option and disable the "Keep All Protections" box when asked. It will save the whole disc in ISO (on my HDD), but I guess it's possible to unpack those files/folders (BDMV/STREAM) to my HDD as well, so I don't need to use ISO if I don't want to. That was what I didn't realize at first. As for BD-Live, I have read the thread explaining this feature and decided to disable for now.

There's no plain answer to that question, because it depends a lot on what you're doing and what you have:
BD-live:
You may choose to disable BD-live for privacy reasons.
You may also choose disable because BD-live simply will not work anymore with an unprotected disc. SuperGoof made a tool, though, that will fix that for those who desperately need BD-live.
ISO or files:
If you're running PowerDVD, you have no choice anyway, because it will not play folders, you'll need a mounted ISO on VirtualCloneDrive.
Using TMT, you have the choice.
leave protection or remove
If you have an ISO with the full protection, AnyDVD will be removing the protection on the fly, so you can still watch the movie. This has the advantage of allowing to change settings in AnyDVD that will reflect on the outcome at anytime later still (remove region code or not, remove BD-live or not, activate the PDVD virtual drive workaround or not, ...).
But you can't burn that ISO onto a disc and then play the disc on a standalone player without AnyDVD running.

Hello,
I have a Popcorn Hour A-110 and i'd like to decrypt blu-rays to play on it. But before buying a Blu-ray dive can someone tell me how long does it take to decrypt a blu-ray to the hard drive ? Is it in minutes or in hours ?
If it's too long i think i'll probably buy a home blu-ray player.
Thanks

It depends on a lot of things. My LG drives can rip a disc in under an hour on average. You need a fast hard drive and a decent BD drive. At peak, my LG drive does over 20MB/s, but, remember it's a variable speed drive so you won't get 20MB/s consistently across the whole disc. The typical disc takes me about 35-45 minutes on average to rip to my hard drive as a full ISO image.

Is MPCHC a viable alternative to PowerDVD7 for playing fully ripped Blu-Ray Discs using the method(s) decribed in this guide?

From what I've quickly read it looks like it does not work well and is not "plug and play" as is PowerDVD7 (sorry i know that probably isn't the answer you were looking for). I would really recommend getting a copy of it, it is a great program and has never given me trouble.

I have a strange question. I don't have a Blu-Ray drive myself, just a player. But I have a friend who does and he only runs Linux.
Is it possible for me to bring my movie over to his machine, copy the files on to a external hard drive on Linux, bring it back home, and then remove the protection with AnyDVD on my Windows machine?
If so, how can it be done? I'm not a Linux user, so I'm not sure which command to use.
I heard on a PS3, you can use: dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/image.iso, but I'm not sure if that still works.

dd works great (disk duplicate)
dd if=/dev/sdb1 of=/mnt/usbdrive/MyBluRayDisc.iso
Then when you want to use the disk again
mkdir /mnt/loopback
mount -o loop /mnt/usbdrive/MyBluRayDisc.iso /mnt/loopback

Sounds like a bad disc to me. With AnyDVD enabled, try ripping the whole disc with ImgBurn. That should show if you're getting read errors.

Is it not worth mentioning that you can decrypt and dump most BluRays using DVDFab HD Decrypter for free? (Cutting out the need for AnyDVD)

Um well no its not worth mentioning because the topic at this point is finding out if any errors exist on the disk. Not whether it can or needs to be decrypted.
I used ISOPuzzle with anydvd enabled to rip disks that are otherwise unreadable due to manufacturing defects. If I cant get that to work. I take the disk back and swap out for one that will if I am inside the defective purchase time with best buy amazon or other movie sources.
