I need to be able to reduce file size on some photos I have taken to a set limit for to suit a site that I use. Do anybody know of a free tool that can do this and can handle many JPG pictures by once from a rather high resolution to fit a smaller file size? GIMP is to slow to convert each photo before posting/sending and to set changes manually.

Would be great full for any open source or free application solution that could do this and do not contain any bad side effects like trojans etc...:thanks: in advance.

Irfanview. It has an excellent batch mode.

Irfanview, definitely. I've been using it for years as my default picture viewer, and it's also quite handy for minor editing (cropping, resizing, converting, etc.). I've found its batch modes quite useful as well, and should meet your needs for quickly resizing a large number of jpgs with minimal manual interaction.

For batch processing, try FSResizer.

@NVTRicc

The OP asked for freeware solutions. Please observe his wishes.

Since you have already had spam links to this program removed on this forum, it seems you have chosen not to take notice of our rules on spam. Hopefully, the R5 strike will assist you in this regard.

Image Resizer PowerToy (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx) enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click.

100% Agreed. It's free, has good batch-processing and supports "Lanczos" resize method for good quality resize :)
