All,
I've been backing up some of my blu ray files with ease...I just bought 3 new blu ray titles (Michael Clayton, Oceans 13 & Rush Hour 3). I burn them to my HD using the latest version of ANYDVD HD, then remux using ts remux to a .ts file then rename .mpg turning it into a MPEG 2.
Any idea why I'm suddenly getting a black screen when steaming to the PS3...what can be done here?

At which point in the chain does the problem begin?
I mean: does the black screen already show up as soon as AnyDVD HD is running and you play them straight from the disc. (or even without AnyDVD running?)
Or is it only the PS3?

Yea, I'm quite sure what the problem is. First off, you are *NOT* turning it into an MPEG2 with that process at ALL. Not even close. Renaming the extension doesn't do anything. The PROBLEM is that all 3 of those movies are VC1 and as such the PS3 won't play them. In order to stream those you'll need to convert them to avchd. You'll find a few tutorials on doom9 forum if you search. It's not a simple process. I've still not been 100% successful in converting my movies.

Peer, it's a problem streaming VC1 video the PS3. The PS3 no likey. :) This is not an AnyDVD issue.

OK...also, I can't WMP or VLC media player to play them either...do they have the same issue as the PS3.
I appreciate your inside...I'll do some research on avchd.

I couldn't tell you on WMP or VLC. One would THINK WMP would be able to play it, but, honestly I don't know. I only use PowerDVD.

What steps are you using to get the .m2ts files in avchd (playable on PS3)???

The methods I've tried are not quick and easy. Try a program called Super and see if it works for you. I've not had 100% success on any of my titles yet, but, I think that's due to some issues on my HTPC that I need to fix. RipBot is another good program. I'm not sure if it does VC1 tracks, though. Nero Vision should be able to convert it, as well.

One more thing, I stream via Twonky...does this effect anything?
I appreciate your time!

Don't know. I've heard really good things about it so I doubt it'd cause any problems.

Right - I didn't have your eagle eyes and missed that "renaming" part :)
I was worried a moment because black screens could also indicate a faulty decryption.
(now before all people with black screens come storming "my decryption doesn't work, my decryption doesn't work!": there are many, many reasons for black screens that are far more likely :) ).

Well, the reason I caught on so quickly is that they gave specific movies that wouldn't stream where others would. I went and looked them up and they are all using VC1 so I knew what the issue was pretty quickly.
And faulty decryption?? Does that happen?! :D Yea, I would say there are far more likely to be other things going on. Blu-ray and HD DVD with their large number of supported codecs make things a bit more complicated when trying to transcode/stream it. The test everyone should be using is what James tells us all the time...can the original play with AnyDVD enabled. If yes, your problem lies somewhere else.

Guys,
I've got a new question. The PS3 was recently updated with support for DTS HD Audio....using twonky can I stream a Blu Ray burned to my Hard Drive to the PS3 and expect it to play DTS HD Audio...assuming the blu ray had DTS HD?

Unlikely. Streamed video is treated differently than an actual BD disc. I don't think it supports DTS of any kind in streamed video afaik.
