I've had a problem with some WMV files and slow seeking when jumping to spots along the timeline. It doesn't happen with all files. The sound plays immediately when the jump occurs, but the video is delayed about 2 seconds. At first I thought it was due to my old PC. Now I'm operating on a 3.2GHz Core2Quad with 8 gig of ram and the problem persists both in WMP11 and VLC. Interestingly enough I get smooth seeking using the preview function within GSpot. Gspot identifies these files as WMV3 (Simple/Main Profile). I do not have this problem with xvid, real, qt, mpeg2.
I know other people have this problem out there from searching, but I haven't come across a solution. Does one exist?

You can try to re-index your files. This article shows how to repair WMV seeking (http://www.solveigmm.com/HowTo/how-to-repair-WMV-seeking-with-video-splitter). If your file already has indexes, just try to remux your WMV file. Open and Save that with the Splitter.
