OK. I am trying to back up my hd-DVDs. I can successfully convert them to h264 1280X720 MKV files which fit easily on a DVD. Perfect for archive.

BUT! I want to try to see if I can make a HD-DVD compliant version that will play on my current HD-DVD player.

I'm already testing making a Blu-Ray version. so the HD-DVD is mostly an academic curiosity.

Does anyone know a process to turn a nicely encoded MKV (1280X720 23.98 h.264 and AC3) into an HD-DVD complinat EVO and create the necessary simple file structure?

Scenarist is NOT an option, so I'm looking for a method that uses other software.

Thanks in advance!

Just use x264 in MeGUI with the HD DVD profile.

so I point the video and audio to the same file? Wouldn't that force a re-encode? The MKV file is already h264 with AC3.

I want to re-mux into an EVO, not re-encode.

Am I missing something?

I've been trying this and that to burn hd video in the H.264 format to where it will be on a regular DVDR-DL media and then play on my Toshiba HD-A2. Can anyone tell me the simplist way this may be accomplished.

There is no option to mux the video+audio into EVOB containers, or am I missing something here?
