Hi,
I just got a rather old movie, Bird directed by Clint Eastwood, which I was trying to backup. At the final step DVD-RB fails to create an ISO image. The last 10 lines in the log file are:
Rebuilding seg 46 VOBID 3 CELLID 20
Updating NAVPACKS for VOBID_03
Updated VTS_C_ADT.
Updated VTS_VOBU_ADMAP.
Updated IFO: VTS_01_0.IFO
Correcting VTS Sectors...
Building ISO Image...
There appears to have been an ISO write error.
ISO Image WAS NOT successfully created.
[02:31:45] Phase III, REBUILD completed in 17 minutes.
The movie, a region 1 NTSC, has been ripped with DVDFab Decrypter. I use winXP pro. and DVD-RB 1.27.3
ImgBurn in build mode created the ISO-image without a problem, however I haven’t tried to burn it to see if actually works.
Thanks for any input.

Hi!
You might try re-ripping that 2001 Warner Bros. release using good ol' DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 instead of DVDFab Decrypter (Which, apparently, doesn't always produce 100% DVD-compliant files)...

Is there anything else in the log that would signify something is amiss?
Do the files output (forget about the ISO) play OK in a software player? If so, use ImgBurn in build mode to burn. There's really little need for ISOs these days, IMO, except as a convenient storage.

In v1.27.3 ImgBurn is used (by default) to create the ISO image as well as burn it.

I guess what I am saying is why build the ISO at all? Once the files are output (rebuild step), ImgBurn can use build mode to burn the files - it need never make an ISO. Or am I missing something (I have never used DVDRB to output to ISO)?

No reason unless you're saving it for some reason.

I actually started out using DVD decrypter, before trying DVD fab. Creating the ISO failed in both cases.

The files play fine, and the ISO I created with IMGBurn burned a workable dics too, so the issue is not that big.
I usually ad several movies to the collection before running DVD-RB. Then I back-up the movies in batch mode and leave the computer running over night. Then I have the ISO images ready to burn the next day. I know I could just use IMGBurn in build mode, however it's important to remember to setup DVD-RB to backup to diffenrent folders, otherwise the DVDFILES will be overwritten. I sometimes forget to do this  Creating the ISO eliminates that problem. That's why I like the ISO feature.

The reason I'm confused is that if you have ImgBurn installed, DVD-RB will use it to create the ISO (rather than mkisofs). If it works when you do it manually, why would it not work when called from DVD-RB? When you did that job, were there other jobs that created the ISO successfully?

No, I only did this one. So I just ran another movie overnight, it failed as well. According to the logfile, this ISO issue has started after I upgraded from ver. 1.266 to 1.273.
However I also upgraded from Win 2K to Win XP about a month ago. (Fresh install). I installed DBD-RB ver. 1.266 at that time but I’m not sure if I used it before I upgraded to ver. 1.273. The log files doesn’t seem to record the date, only the time of the day. The log file is not affected of the Win XP upgrade as it resides on another partition.
Could I have forgotten to install or change something to cause this problem? Maybe I should roll back to ver. 1.266 to see how this goes?

Well, that makes sense, I guess. v1.27.3 was the first to use ImgBurn to create the ISO image.
What version of ImgBurn are you using? I'd recommend you download the latest and try it.

I just found the problem. A few weeks ago I upgraded my firewall, Comodo ver 3.xx. It was not setup to allow DVD-RB to execute Img-Burn. Since this all was running overnight I never saw the pop-up from the firewall. :stupid:
Sorry about this
