View Full Version : Strange line in mpeg2 -> wmv-transcode

Hi

I use Canopus Procoder 3.0 for transcoding.

I have transcoded a lot of mpeg2-files (m2v ripped from DVD) to wmv in the past without any problems like the one Im having now. The mpeg2 Im working with now comes from the Swedish PAL-version of Le Serpent (The Snake).

For certain scenes in the movie I get a long line/artifact in the middle of the screen stretching from left to right (its not there throughout the movie but pops back from time to time). Please have a look at the screenshot here where Ive added red arrows to mark the line:

The mpeg2-file is not square-pixeled (should be 1,85:1 but plays back as 1,33:1) so I put 16:9 as the source aspect to make it transcode with its proper aspect. This seems to have something to do with the problem as Ive tried transcoding it without doing this which leaves me with a file that doesnt have the strange line in the middle.

Does anyone have an idea about what I could do to get rid of the line?

I've tried ripping two different DVDs but get the same result in the wmv-file. If I look at the mpeg2-file it doesn't have the same problem.
