well, it mainly depends on your GPU, not CPU
an ATI HD 2400 is enough for decoding H264 and VC-1

......i'm not good with english
those instructions of CPU help little with decoding
they're more useful while encoding
the ATI UVD can decode MPEG-2, VC-1 &H.264
UVD is available in HD 2000 series and 3000 series
however, you also have to pay attention to the settings of the player, or probably the UVD will not work
maybe that's why you think hd 2400 is not good for 1080p
If you do want the CPU to do the decoding, an E6500 (i think) or better is ok.(i don't know much about AMD CPU)

Either you blocked the forum's cookies, or some overzealous security software on your system did.

+1
anyway i recommend to by as strong CPU as possible instead of strong GPU

Agreed, pound for pound more CPU is pretty much always more useful then more GPU.
Well, for a HTPC anyway... Spending a lot on your GPU ONLY makes sense for a gaming PC.

A dual core CPU is recommended as minimum for 1080p content.

not mpeg2
only in chip 780G have uvd for mpeg2 ( 3200 )
but can ffdshoo support on 4 cpu or only 2 cpu ?

Download the Cyberlink HD-DVD/Blu-Ray advisor. It will tell you all the minimum requirements you need. Then get something with at least those requirements, its pretty basic.

this is very good advice :)
on the other hand i qould reccomend core 2 quad - should be no problem with all video content.

offtopic: I really does not understand - who need MPEG2 HW decoding (PureVideo) for modern CPU?
