I currently have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 for my laptop. This is the 24xxx series model which was originally for windows XP. It worked 75% of the time with my old laptop under windows XP. Now I have a newer laptop (AMD Turion64 x2 dual, with Nvidia GeForce Go6150 graphics, Windows Vista Home Premiun 32 Bit). I downloaded the Vista software from the hauppauge website to no success. The tuner is really unreliable now. Almost works 10% of the time.

Ok, I am looking for alternatives to this tvtuner for my newer laptop. I use a satellite as the source to record tv shows and movies. I want something with equal video quality to the hauppauge in mpeg2.

Any suggestions or alternatives to Hauppauge Wintv-pvr usb????

I spotted the pinnacle PCTV HD pro stick or ultimate stick? Anyone know how video quality compares to the hauppauge?

Or how about the Pinnacle PCTV To Go Wireless??? They say if you use ethernet cables while recording, the video recording quality is good. How this compare to the hauppauge wintv pvr?

I have the Pinnacle HD Pro Stick and Its OTA video quality Recordings are excellent but the Analog Recording are regular/ugly compared to my WinTV150 recording. I can post sample comparisons of an analog recording via S-Video if you wish.

On-Air Creator(requires an external Power source) has a built in hardware encoder, USB 2.0. I used it mostly for HD recording, but it is capable of Analog and worked well when I used it.

I've been hearing buzzings about new hauppauge HD-PVR.
Althought there is no reviews or detailed info on it, but I would consider this one as well.
