I too am also having audio sync problems with AGK. My problem is slightly different to arric as i did not rip a dvd. I am trying to convert .mpg files that i have captured from my HDTV Tuner card. (Which is pure raw HD video of large files sizes ~ e.g 2hrs = 12GB)

I used den78s method - "...u can fix it with kmplayer (right click > playback > audio resync > resync audio).
memorize the delay & in virtualdubmod under streams > streams list > interleaving ...put that delay in "delay audio track by"

This did not work overall. It worked at the beginning of the video. The audio and video where in sync for the first quarter of the video, but as the video progressed the time delay was greater. E.g the audio delay in the beggining of the video was -5secs where as toward the end it might have been -10secs . I have AGK and virtual dubmod installed. I dont know whats wrong. Please some help??

Or you can use Nandub to fix your avi delay (with no re-encoding, just in direct stream copy) : it's easier than fix mpg delay and re-encoding in avi

Thanks for your replies. I will give nandub a go first. Why would i need to use projectx to fix the original .mpg when there is nothing wrong with the mpg. It is the final product that is the problem (AGK avi)

r u sure about that :)
well, u can try it, it won't cost u nothin ;)
btw, u can fix mpeg's audio delay without reencoding too...for example use free tool like Mpeg2Schnitt...

cheers

Ok, just to clear up any confusion. I record HDTV onto my PC through my TV tuner card which is in .mpg format and is perfect (i.e error free and no sync issues). I want convert this file to .avi with AGK so the file size is a lot smaller. The audio becomes out of sync of the new avi file after i use AGK

Using ProjectX might really help, as it did with me :)

Even my DVB (not HDTV, but still..) MPEG2 files were perfectly in sync, but went out-of-sync when i converted them. So i used Projectx to fix it (it will demux the files), and after that i used a multiplexer to mux the files again. Then i converted this file and it worked :)

And from now on, i always use ProjectX with my files

And btw, it might be better to use a more uptodate tool than AutoGK, like StaxRip. I dont think staxrip is much difficult... infact, i think its pretty noob-proof :)

@milfner

Hi!the audio delay in the beggining of the video was -5secs where as toward the end it might have been -10secsLoad the file into VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, or NanDub.
Set BOTH "Video"(VirtualDub,
VirtualDubMod and NanDub) and "Audio"
(VirtualDub and NanDub - VirtualDubMOD>"Streams>"Stream
list") to "Direct Stream Copy".

A) If the difference between audio and video is constant
throughout the video:

From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Interleaving" (For
VirtualDubMOD, rightclick on the listed audiostream and then
select "Interleaving")

Under "Audio skew correction", set an appropriate number of
milliseconds (positive or negative) in the box labelled "Delay
audio track by"

Save with a new filename

B) If the difference increases as the movie plays:

From under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Framerate" -
and select "Change so video and audio durations match"

Save with a new filename
Let us know of your success ;>}
