View Full Version : Unable to get VirtualVCR to start capturing

Hi,

I've tried finding a solution in the Newbies forum, but maybe that's not specialised enough - anyway in spite of the help offered there I'm no further forward, so since this is a capturing problem I thought I'd try here. Posting #1 in this thread gives the background:-
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=135473

Having gone (many times!) through the process of setting-up VirtualVCR I get the same result every time:- first an error message saying "Cannot run preview graph,..." and then another saying "Cannot start graph". The filter graph is attached; I (even I!) can see that something is radically wrong with it. There appears to be no source filter and there's no audio filter chain for starters:eek:.

I've repeatedly set Devices tab > Audio Capture Filter > Properties > Input pin line to 'Analog mix/Line in' and a tick in 'Enable'. Every time it sets itself back to 'MIDI Synth' and clears the 'Enable' box. I've noticed that the 'Apply' button on this tab remains permanently greyed-out, which may perhaps have something to do with it.

At present, I can make absolutely no progress at all. Is anyone, please, able to offer me any hints?

EDIT
Something is wrong with uploading the zip-file containing my filter-graph. 'managing attachments' says it's already uploaded but it isn't! But it IS attached to posting #1 in the thread URL above.

EDIT
Latest filter-graph now attached

Hi!

Perhaps you can gain some needed insight by going to the VirtualVCR homepage and reading about the Requirements and Recommendations:

@set arip_old

I'm most grateful for the pointer, but most of all for your restraint:thanks: Of course I should have tried that before. Most embarrassing.

My (feeble) excuse is that I've stared myself so stupid reading so much stuff that I can no longer see the wood for the trees.

I will now study and try to apply the Requirements and Recommendations, and will report my results.
