When burning double layer disks, ImgBrn offers the options for "Seamless" and "Don't update IFO/BUP files."

When ought either or both of this options be invoked?

You can safely ignore both of these. However, experiment with one DL burn and check the "seamless" option. See if it plays and fast forwards and rewinds OK across the layer break on all your standalone players. If so, you can have this on all the time and not be interrupted by the little pause in the middle of the movie.

I recently started using ImgBrn instead of my older ImgToolBurn. When I let the program automatically set the layer break, I viewed it in the layer break preview and there was a distinct pause. I checked the seamless option box but the program displayed a message suggesting that I don't use the seamless option. Taking the programs advice I decided to leave the seamless option box unchecked. However, after burning and viewing the disk in my stand alone player I noticed at the layer break there was no pause and it played seamlessly even though when burning I didn't use the seamless option. I'm crossing my fingers that this will occur most of the time. Or at least that ImgBurn will tell when and when not to use the seamless option.

It might be that the material is authored so that you don't notice it. You can check you IFO files to see if there is a layer break cell.

It doesn't really tell you when NOT to use seamless, it just displays a generic warning when you enable 'seamless' saying that it *might* not work on your player.
