Here's something I've noticed just today, although I have flashed my Pioneer DVD rom the day I bought it , so it's region free, I've just checked out it's properties in WinXP that I have installed 3 days ago, on the DVD's properties tab windows say that I can change my region only once more and then my drive will lock, I know it sounds stupid but does this message appear by default ( reminder in case you don't know what region setting could if your drive is NOT flashed) or will windows take some action if the number drops to 0 ? I believe that nothing will happen but I am just being a bit too precosious (if that's how it's spelled) anyway thanks in advance..

this setting has no effect unless you use a player that uses the internal windows region (cinemaster does afaik... the latest builds of windvd do, too, but you can set them back to the traditional way of doing the region check with dvd genie (www.inmatrix.com))... so.. there's absolutely nothing to worry about
