In order to playback alternate cut MKV files (Where you can choose between different versions of a movie just like you can do on certain DVD's) you need the latest Haali Matroska Splitter. All well and good but I have hit a snag. If I force Haali to be the source filter in my favorite player The KMPlayer it does not load vsfilter. If I enable subtitles in ffdshow then they will display but I am unclear as to whether it is ffdshow loading vsfilter or if it's displaying the subtitles itself.
However I'd really prefer to use the high quality rasterizer output for subtitles that is in The KMPlayer (Requires PProcDLL.dll to be present). This is a MUST for anyone who watches a lot of anime like I do. It simply blows vsfilter out of the water in terms of subtitle rendering quality. I've posted a query similar to this over at the player authors forum in the hope that he can come up with a solution. But that may take time.
I have put this in general because it is a number of issues and I am not really looking for support here. Just rambling in fact :)
At present I have gone back to just using WMP for anything that needs Haali and The KMPlayer for everything else.
The alternate cut MKV thing I presume is fairly new (At least I have never seen it used before) and other software will need to catchup.
