I guess the title says it all. PLaying S-VCDs or VCDs directly from disc is pain in the ass with all the DVD player soft out there, you alway have to select the subfolder, etc.

BlackSun is thinking of modifying PowerDivX 4 ( still Alpha ) such that it can play DVDs .... so i told him that VCD/S-VCD support directly from disc is something the community would need more !

What's your point of view ? What players are you using ? Or are you only playing your dics on your standalones, never on your PC ?

BTW : A few guys in our powerdivx.com forums are reporting latest Alpha ( ver. 4 ) of PowerDivX 4 can play VCD/S-VCD from disc already ( Mode 2 ) but i didnt have time to check that .... of course : it won't find the correct subfolder now, you have to select the file like with PowerDVD, WinDVD, etc. ...

The latest PowerDVD XP (4.0) support SVCD (and VCD) in Disc Mode (you DON'T have to use the file-mode option).

Hi,

I'm using WinDVD3 and am having no problems playing VCD or SVCDs. I actually have a computer hooked up to my entertainment unit and that's what I use to watch DVD/SVCD/VCDs.

Depending on your burning method, I know that the older VCDImagerGui wouldn't put a "segment" directory on the disc and this made WinDVD not play the SVCDs. But everything I have ever burnt with Nero or lately vcdxbuild has worked fine.

Cheers
