Hi bros,
I'm trying to add subtitles to an AVI containing video(Xvid)+audio(mp3) in order to watch the movie on my DVD player.
I don't know what is normally supported by a DVD player !
Can I add the subtitles with a tool like VobSub submux within the AVI container or should I encode them with VirtualDub within the video itself ?
Any other solution ?
Thanks for your help.

Hi!I don't know what is normally supported by a DVD player !The one CERTAIN way is to, as you asked, "encode them with VirtualDub within the video itself" - since this will result in subtitles actually being converted to a permanent part of the video itself...

Assuming your player plays AVIs (your post isn't at all clear about that), you might try this guide:

Thanks a lot for your replies.
Yes my player supports AVI files.
I encapsulated the subtitles with VirtualDub and it works great !

But if you burn the original avi file with the sub/idx files in a cd (if your player supports subtitle files), you won't need to reencode the video, so you won't lose image quality.
