I am trying to convert a non protected DVD to AVI using v2.48.

In the result, the audio starts after a few minutes and the subtitles (although checked) do not show at all.

Tried this 1 time with target size to predetermined 1/2 cd and 1 time with quality set at 75%.

(Tried it with DivX converter successfully).

Can anyone help?

Thanx.

p.s. If I extract the subtitles as images, can they be displayed just as srt subtitles during avi playback and how?

Hi

Title is Lost season 1 dvd any of the 5. region should be 2 (anyway to check?). Again this is a home made (TDK) dvd.

Again this is a home made (TDK) dvd. Please clarify:

1) What was the original source material from which you've created this DVD?

2) What software and procedures did you use to create this DVD?

3) Does the DVD you've created play properly?

4) Does the original source material play properly?

Progress:

(Tried it with DivX converter successfully).

Sorry, "Successfully" applies as per the audio. Subtitles are still delayed. See below.

Extracted IDX/SUB from dvd and in the idx file I confirmed the timing of the 1st subtitle to be off exactly as it played in the created divx.

Answers to previous post:

1. Original bought dvd.
2. DVDFab Platinum. (Skipped Titles and 1st chapter in titles. ("Previously on Lost")).
3 & 4. Yes.

I should have supplied this info without asking. Sorry.

Skipped Titles and 1st chapter in titlesSkipping the first chapter may be the cause of your problem(s)...

Probably so. I will try original dvd.

Now for those having same problem, I edited idx file to fix delay, put idx, sub and divx files in same directory making sure all 3 names before the (.Ext(ension)) are identical and played the divx using WMP10. Played fine. (You must have vobsub installed)

However the questions remain
1) Why the copy DVD plays ok?
2) Why when using AutoGK the resulting file has audio problems while the divx file does not?
3) Why in the file made with AutoGK the subtitles do not appear at all? (Even delayed)?

Thank you very much

AutoGK still has problems with some episodic discs which seem to be connected to the way the eps are stored on the disc. Sometimes all eps are physically stored in one single file which is VTS1/PGC 1 and then again referenced from each ep.

In this screenshot PGC 2 is the first ep, but when you open it in AutoGK and select it, it still encodes PGC1 which will result all eps in one avi which of course is too much video so the quality will be horrible. As setarip said above your cutting of the intro chapter might have added to this effect somehow.

Since I'm not entirely sure whether len0x does continue working on AutoGK I've come up with a workaround in which I batchrip all eps with DVDD and feed AutoGK with single episodes which works so far.
