When I open an AVI in AGK that has ADPCM audio, everything processes and seems fine, but the resulting audio is just a "screeching" sound.

Hi!
1) Did you create the original .AVI using the "plain vanilla" ADPCM codec or the IMA ADPCM codec? Don't you still have the same codec installed on your system?
2) Does your original .AVI (with ADPCM audio) PLAY properly on your system?
3) May I ask why, in the first place, did you create an .AVI with an ADPCM audio codec and, apparently, something other than the XviD video codec - and now need to change it?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The "plain vanilla".
2) Does your original .AVI (with ADPCM audio) PLAY properly on your system?
Yes, in VLC and MPC.
3) May I ask why, in the first place, did you create an .AVI with an ADPCM audio codec and, apparently, something other than the XviD video codec - and now need to change it?
It was created by ArchosTV+ (Divx4/ADPCM), no options to change it.
I want to be able to play it on my D-Link DSM-520 which doesn't support ADPCM, only regular PCM.

From a post at another forum, regarding converting ADPCM audiostreams:If that's the case, you'll need to decode the WAVs to standard 16-bit uncompressed WAVs using something like dBPowerAmp or foobar2000, or better yet, use either of the aforementioned programs to go straight to LAME in one step.
2) Does your original .AVI (with ADPCM audio) PLAY properly on your system?
Yes, in VLC and MPCThen you should likely also be able to use VLC to convert the audio...

OK, Thanks. I found "Super", it can transcode just the audio and leave the video as-is. Exactly what I wanted.

Glad to hear you've resolved your dilemma ;>}
Curious to know if you tried any of the suggested programs?

I tried VLC, but didn't like the one-at-a-time method. Super has batch capabilities. And I didn't want to transcode the video becasue the source is not high quality.

Although I'm aware that you've already found a satisfactory solution, I just wanted to mention that you could have likewise used VLC to elect to only transcode the audiostream...

That's good to know. I didn't get that far into it. The interface is not too friendly. I'm going to check that out though in case Super doesn't do the job, but so far so good.
Still, VLC doesn't do batch right?
I like to get a few recordings built up on the Archos hard drive, then transfer to my video machine for transcode, then I throw them into my movie folder on the NAS which feeds all the tv's and other computers via UPnP.
Being able to do a batch overnight is very convenient.
