View Full Version : I/O Error while burning with ImgBurn

I get this message every so often while burning a DVD.
"I/O Error!" - usually it appears well after the burn process has started. I usually just re-burn it and try again, but this time I thought I'd post it and see what you guys think. For this instance I've used DVDFab HD Decryptor 4 to decode, then DVD Shrink 3.2 (to ISO), and copy with ImgBurn 2.4.0.0. I've attached a jpg of the message.

Any ideas on how to prevent this?:thanks:

W 07:03:05 Waiting for buffers to recover...
W 07:03:07 Waiting for hard disk activity to reach threshold level...That might be the cause of the problem. When you burn, avoid launching programs, and quit all programs that are currently running, especially if they do many disc accesses.

When you burn, avoid launching programs, and quit all programs that are currently running, especially if they do many disc accesses.

I'll give that a try; I wasn't actively doing other activities, but I did have a lot of other misc windows open. I'll shut everything down except ImgBurn, try again, and let you know the outcome.

I 01:30:17 Write Speed: MAX
Also use a slower burn speed next time, I'd suggest 8X with your drive, as it's not known for it's burn quality at higher speeds.

You might also consider updating the drives firmware (http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2082).

@rOIZ - Well it worked; thanks.

@Jeffster - I got your message after I burned the DVD, but I'll take the write speed into consideration for future burns; I also updated the driver - thanks for the link.

I have a very similar problem using RipIt4Me on some old X-Men DVDs. The ripping and decrypting and burning seem to go along fine, but soon after the verification stage begins, I get this L-EC error as well. I already made several coasters with two different disc brands. The DVDs are not more scratched than other I've made backups of successfully and a few of the tries were made with only the burning application running.
