View Full Version : Can the AR be fixed here?

Source was originally 1.77:1 Widescreen, and I'd like to bring it back to full 16:9 resolution if possible!

And the video appears very washed out. Any recommendations for bright/contrast tweaks to help? Could that HDR AGC plugin do automatic correction?

it's crap as a source.

just crop 100 from the top, 104 from the bottom,
resize to 720,480,
and encode with 16/9 ar.

hdragc is not the tool, it's for underexposed stuff.
use tweak()
what you do is a matter of preference...

i just played a bit in vdub:

you'll also need to deblock at the least.
might as well smooth a bit,
and sharpen a bit to give some sense of detail,
nothing really there...

Should the filter order be like this?

Deblock
Tweak
Resize
Sharpen

My lame brother...

Motorola HD Receiver > Firewire transfer to his laptop > Encode to DivX (which is how it got so screwed up to begin with).

If he would've kept the .ts file I wouldn't have this mess. I usually take the .ts file, make edits in VideoReDo, make a .d2v file, and use AviSynth with either VDub for an XviD AVI or HC Encoder for a nice DVD.
