is there x.264 documentation for development ???

I'm newbie about codec programming. I think I understand h.264 theory almost... and I analyzed jm12.4 source... I'm trying to analyze x264... but I think need more document more detaily... so is there any document about that ??? I want more except source comment... plase... thanks for reading...

x264 is, unfortunately, not nearly as well documented as it could be.

I have considered going back and doing a massive comment-spree to make the code much clearer to newcomers.
