I have been capturing videos from cable and hand held recorders for over 5 years. Currently I have two ATI 9600 AIW cards and one 7500 AIW card (my first capture card). All have worked very well over these years (despite the unbelievably lame ATI software!!!) but with hi-def in the very near future I would like to upgrade to handle the newer better formats.
I'm sure that many of you have starting doing as I have, looking to see what is the better route for upgrading to the 1080pi range. One item of concern is that I would like to burn to BluRay eventually, now that this format seems to have been the chosen route.
My primary need is for capturing old classical movies from the cable, massaging the output to make viewable DVD's. I'm not concerned about handhelp footage as everthing now is DV and is brought in via the 1394 port.
I've went through as many postings here as I could but found most info is from the 2001 to 2004 area, not exactly current. I'm sure there are a ton of different opinions as to which direction would be best, and I'm open to consider all.
I'm posting because I do need help in this matter, and I'm sure there are plenty of others that are approaching this condition in the near future.
Thanks for any help!!
