Not a alpha or beta.
I want a timeline.
One year, two tears?

Seriously, how is development coming. One reason I ask is because I really want 3.0 to be finished as well. I run linux A LOT.

2.6 and 3.0 development are pretty much unrelated.
I wouldn't really hold your breath for 3.

I guess that means I shouldn't yet try to locate and download an avisynth 2.6 build if it exists ?

What about avisynth v2.5.8? when will a new build of that become available :) the current build for me works perfectly apart from the issue of stalling before the next file if in monitor off mode...

Man I remember like 3 years ago or so it seemed like 3.0 was gonna be right around the corner...

Well, 2.6 is up and running - I've been using it at my company for quite some time. Since Ian is pulling the main load on AviSynth lately, I think he's the one to decide when it's ready.

We are going for a "no baked code" release - meaning that AviSynth should have better possibilities for future updates, also involving plugins. That - and the continual back-and-from porting of features to the 2.5 line is slowing things a bit.

Anyway - here is a good link for you : http://www.coping.org/growth/patient.htm

How 2.6 compares to 2.58 ? Any major reasons to upgrade?

Thanks,
- Dan

Use search.

Use search.

I was looking for useful comparisons between the 2 releases and not a useless answer. Now, if you want to be useful you may post the link to your search results - assuming you got something.

:thanks:

Thanks Wilbert. I just found that link: http://software.emule.com/avisynth-2-6-0-2/

After the install on my spare machine I noticed my default IE page got changed to http://www.dufpy.com/ :(

That build of 2.6.0 is also very old, as are most that are available. What should be done in my opinion is to have someone post 'very unofficial' builds of the latest builds as per the changelist for 2.6.0. The point of being unoffical is to state its not perfect, and could even have a warning at the beginning of the install? anyways it would be beneficial for users like myself who like to try out new features, but also to report any bugs and other problems encountered with the install which could further help with its development.

Yes but why would an old build hijack the IE home page? Sounds like spyware to me.

All right guys LAY OFF! It will be finished when it is finished.

There are NO official releases of 2.6! Ones like that on emule are of unknown origin and quite probably virused. The only recomended and supported download site is Sourceforge.

I will close this thread with these wise words :)
